"This was a wonderful Inn convenient to all of the sites. I made an error with the reservation and the staff was able to accommodate us even though we arrived after 8 pm with no reservation for the first night. We stayed in room 130 which was absolutely beautiful. We felt like the society folk of the antebellum era. The whirlpool tub in our bathroom was a nice modern touch." --December 2, 2013
"Very intimate, low key property for those looking for an out of the way hotel.Love the breakfast which you can take out into the courtyard. Great location to see and wander over all of the history of "Old Savannah". Excellent staff that will look out for any of your personal needs, and within walking distance of any significant historical site in downtown. Many good restaurants nearby as well." --November 22, 2013
"From help getting into the house with our luggage to a leisurely wonderful southern breakfast (slightly different every morning) in the courtyard; the Eliza Thompson House exceeded our expectations in every regard. The receptionists helped us with reservations, secured rides, watched for our driver and even made sure our reservation at one restaurant was held as she anticipated we might be late. Wine/cheese and the dessert/coffee times allowed a free flow of conversation among participants. We were in a lovely decorated bedroom at the front of the house near reception looking onto the street. This room was wonderful for us..spacious with a sparkling clean bathroom. I'm already looking forward to returning to the Eliza Thompson House." --November 18, 2013
"My wife and I loved everything about Eliza Thompson, The rooms had great old character and the folks that run this small hotel were very warm and helpful. The highlight was the lovely garden with fountain that was wonderful for enjoying complementary wine and snacks in the evening and breakfast buffet in the morning. A great location just a couple blocks from Forsyth Park in an area with many old mansions and green squares, a bit away from the rowdier tourist scene near the river. " --October 26, 2013
"We were met at the door by Brendon who greeted us by name! Took our luggage to our Courtyard room and then put a slip ($12) in our car so we could have our car stay put for 2 days and ignore the pkg meter. Our room opened onto the Courtyard with a beautiful water fountain( loved the sound of water) . A hearty buffet breakfast was served in the courtyard, wine and "tapas" served in the parlor from 5:30-7 and dessert from 8:30-10. Bedroom was well appointed although it had a very small bathroom. But that was fine with us. Robes and turn down were a nice touch. We walked everywhere. Especially beautiful at nite! We would definitely stay at The Eliza Thompson House again!" --October 16, 2013
"We celebrated our wedding anniversary here. Don't bother buying a trolley pass, you can walk everywhere from the front door faster than waiting for a trolley. The staff was very nice. We had a courtyard room. I would have loved to see the rooms in the main house, but they were all occupied. We really enjoyed the wine and cheese time. We met people from Canada, Oregon, and Scotland. It was really relaxing sitting around with them having wine in the afternoons. After we met the first day, we all gathered each day to share our events with each other. Our room was very pretty. Climbing up to the bed was no problem at all. It was the perfect blend of privacy and b&b friendly." --October 7, 2013
"My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Eliza Thompson House. The staff was every welcoming and friendly. Erin and the two bellman took good care of us! The innkeeper was friendly and personable. We found the location was superb, quiet and centrally located. We were a short walk from all the city has to offer and we felt we picked the best location possible.
Our room was spacious and bright, we stayed in Eliza's master bedroom. It's the J.Stephen room with a lovely lace canopy bed, separate sitting area and lovely views of the courtyard and of jones street. The fireplace was non-working but added a nice touch in this lovely well cared for home. We loved the courtyard and being able to mingle with other guests. Beats the big box hotels any day!" --October 1, 2013
"My husband and I loved this place. It wasn't very busy during the middle of the week, which was great. The room was very comfortable and quiet. Miss Virginia prepared a main dish every morning and there was a lot of other great food available. The biscuits were very tasty. They also offered appetizers and an after dinner dessert, which makes it a great value. My husband and I walked around the area extensively, including using the free shuttle when we were going further or had already walked a lot during the day. We were not able to check in early, but they did take our luggage so we could do a little sightseeing." --September 3, 2013
"The staff was super welcoming. The house and courtyard are gorgeous! The wine/cheese AND dessert/coffee receptions were great touches and a nice way to meet other travelers and discuss the day. Jones Street is called the prettiest street in Savannah and deserves that designation. You can walk anywhere in the historic district and the staff will make recommendations about anything you ask. As a business traveler, it was convenient that the room had an iron and ironing board, hair dryer and free wifi. (and snacks when Ireturned from work at 5:30). I would love to stay here again on my next trip to Savannah. Kudos to Kevin and Alexine for their friendliness and to the kitchen and service staff for the yummy food and really clean room!" --August 27, 2013
"We are very glad we decided on this B&B. It was very well located in the Historic District, just a few minutes walk from most central attractions. Our room was spacious and quiet, overlooking a lovely courtyard. A wonderful feature was the special hors d'oeuvres and desserts offered during the course of the evening. Hors d'oeuvres was served from 5.30 - 7.00pm, this consisted of a variety of cheeses with crackers, crab meat dip, the best deviled eggs ever(!) and other goodies. To accompany this, we were offered wine and sherry. Then from 8.30 to 10.00pm desserts were served: a delicious and moist carrot cake, profiteroles filled with cream and chocolate brownies. All delicious. In the morning a wonderful breakfast buffet was prepared in the courtyard: various meats, a super egg casserole with salsa, grits, biscuits, muffins, yogurts, cereals etc. We will certainly return to the Eliza Thompson House when we visit Savannah again." --August 20, 2013
"We took a weekend in Savannah and stayed at the Eliza Thompson. The staff are absolutely delightful, warm, friendly and the property is charming. Lovely spacious rooms, quaint courtyard - I'd absolutely go back and recommend staying there for anyone - it is on the most beautiful street and there's a delightful little home decor place just around the corner." --July 15, 2013
"My mother, sister, and I stayed here in mid-June for 2 nights. We spent a great deal of time researching hotels in the historic district before settling on the Eliza Thompson house. We were looking for a place with a little southern charm, spacious rooms, and public gathering areas. This fit the bill perfectly in every way. We arrived later than originally planned - it was nearly 7:00pm on Saturday. When we arrived we were greeted by a very friendly staff. Kevin helped us with our bags, helped me find a parking space - and even guided me in as I had to parallel park in a very tight spot. We assumed we had missed the wine and cheese hour; however, as soon as he had us settled in, he brought out more wine and cheese for us to enjoy, extending the social hour. We were treated like family during our stay, but I never felt like I was staying in someone elses home (that was always my hesitation in staying at a B&B). It was the perfect mix of hospitality and a charming hotel." --July 8, 2013
"My wife and I just returned from a long weekend in Savannah, Ga. We chose to stay at the Eliza Thompson House as our first ever stay at a bed and breakfast based off of the reviews here on TripAdvisor. I must say that our expectations were more than exceeded! The welcome that is given makes you feel as if you are coming back after many visits. The staff immediately jumps into action to ensure that you are comfortable with the layout of the B&B, help you with your luggage and make sure that you are settled. Wine and cheese and dessert is served daily along with the breakfast. The staff does a great job buzzing around the hotel cleaning and yet rarely will you actually see them. On a personal note, Kevin from guest services was amazing! He knew the answer to any question that we had, was very quick to suggest places to go when we did not have plans, and was generally one of the most attentive people that we have ever had the pleasure of of dealing with on vacation! Awesome job! We plan on returning and suggesting this to all our friends and family!" --July 7, 2013
