The Eliza Thompson House on Jones St

Lined by massive live oak and magnolia trees, the world-famous, brick-paved street will charm you with its elegant old homes, including The Eliza Thompson House. Jones Street, called one of the most elegant streets in the city, runs through the center of Savannah's Historic District.

The street spans nine long city blocks, and is the site of some of Savannah's most elegantly restored historic townhouses and private residences. Much of the original brick has been replaced over the years, but in some areas the original brick and pavers remain. Jones Street is also one of the few east/west downtown streets in Savannah that doesn't intersect with one of the famed 22 downtown squares.

Visitors will find a multitude of interesting shops and antique stores within walking distance of The Eliza Thompson House, including The Paris Flea Market, One Fish-Two Fish, and numerous other eclectic shops and galleries.

Many of the shops around the Inn are a part of The Downtown Design District, a collection of high-end shops and art galleries which specialize in everything from fine linens to local art. The area is an excellent place for purchasing gifts, and you may rest assured that items found here are either local, rare, or both.

You'll also find restaurants like Mrs. Wilkes and Clary's Cafe, both Savannah traditions, right on Jones Street. Forsyth Park, The Mercer House and The Green Meldrim House are all located within a block or two of the Inn.
