No matter what time of year you find yourself in Savannah, you're sure to be in town during one of our historic city's beloved and renowned annual events, many of which take place near The Eliza Thompson House. Not a month goes by without a celebration in Savannah.


Martin Luther King, Jr., Observance Day Celebration—Each year on Martin Luther King Day, Savannah finds a new theme to make the celebration of Martin Luther King continually fresh, revitalizing and inspiring. Various events take place throughout the month to pay tribute to the man and celebrate his legacy.

The Annual Taste of Savannah—Sample the latest creations of the city's finest chefs. Residents and visitors alike savor this annual event, one that draws national food critics to judge the taste, decor and presentation from each chef.


Georgia Heritage Celebration's Colonial Faire and Muster—Since 1734, every February 12, Savannah has celebrated Georgia's history in a wide variety of ways, including children's parades and other events honoring the rich history that makes the state and this city what it is today.

Black Heritage Festivals—Throughout Savannah during the month of February, which is Black History Month, a wide array of celebrations and events are held in honor of the struggle, perseverance and courage of the city and the country's black citizens. Events include music festivals, art exhibits, dance performances and lectures.

Savannah Irish Festival—Before the famous (and some say infamous) St. Patrick's Day celebrations of Savannah take place in March, Savannah's Celtic descendants host the Savannah Irish Festival, which begins on the third weekend of the month. Musical performances, food, and arts and crafts booths abound to honor all that's wonderful about the magical country of Ireland.


St. Patrick's Day Celebrations—Let the revelry begin! Each March 17, hundreds of thousands of visitors descend upon Savannah to watch the annual parade, in honor of. St. Patrick, look for the lucky leprechaun and of course, drink green beer.

Savannah Music Festival—An amazing roster of eclectic performers come to Savannah every year to experience Georgia's largest music festival. Held annually in late March, the Savannah Music Festival covers the gamut of genres, styles and tastes for a one-of-a-kind music event lauded by attendees and critics alike.


Broughton Street International Festival—Featuring a internationally inspired fashion, music, dance performances and food, this festival presented by the Savannah College of Art and Design is always enjoyed by visitors and locals alike.

Spring Fling and Music Festival—Enjoy the talents of musical performance and artist displays from more than 50 local visual artists and musicians while ringing in the beauty of Spring.


Savannah Seafood Festival—The beginning of every May brings the Savannah Seafood Festival, where everyone is free to enjoy samples of wonderfully prepared seafood dishes along with a daily beach party and live entertainment.

Scottish Games Festival—This well-loved annual festival features traditional Scottish food, music, cultural displays and fun games like "tossing the caber." In case you were wondering, the "caber" is basically a large wooden pole, so spectators are advised to stand back!


Savannah Asian Festival—Asian residents celebrate their various and diverse cultures with traditional food, cultural displays and fascinating workshops that include Indian henna skin art, Filipino bamboo pole dancing and Chinese calligraphy.

Savannah Gay Pride Festival—One of the South's most popular Pride fests, this colorful celebration is fun for everyone and features parties, concerts, parades and other events held all over the city.

Savannah Jazz Festival—In late September, the Savannah Jazz Festival brings a fresh blast of cool to the still-warm temperatures of Savannah. Regional and local performers bring their jazz and blues chops to a wide array of venues all over town.


Savannah Film Festival—Held during the latter end of October, the Savannah Film Festival—presented by Savannah College of Art and Design—features the finest in independent productions from filmmakers all over the world.

Savannah Greek Festival—Get your fill of baklava, gyros and fantastic live performances—all celebrating the wonders of Greece—at this annual celebration.


Rock-N-Roll Marathon- Runners will start downtown at historic City Hall, pass by three of the city’s iconic downtown squares, tour through the stunning homes of Gordonston, the southern charm of West Savannah before an exciting finish alongside Forsyth Park.  Marathoners will enjoy a tour of the Savannah State University campus and Daffin Park, running past William Grayson Stadium.

Savannah Harbor Boat Parade of Lights—You won't want to miss this beautiful display of lights as Savannah kicks off the holiday season with a breathtaking parade of more than 60 gloriously bedecked boats as they glide across the water.
