HOUSEKEEPING NOTES

While our wrought-iron steps and cobblestone streets are an authentic part of our Jones Street location, please be aware to watch your step. Also, stairs are required to access rooms on all four levels of the inn – which may be challenging or prohibitive for guests with mobility issues.

Please note that at the Eliza Thompson House, we honor an Adults-Only Policy. While we love little ones, our specialty is hosting couples for an anniversary together or other travelers seeking respite. Fortunately, our sister hotel will gladly host you and your family – including pets! East Bay Inn is the perfect fit if you're traveling with anyone under the age of 21.

PET POLICY:

While we do not allow pets, we would be happy to host you and your four-legged family member at East Bay Inn, our sister hotel in Savannah!

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT

We acknowledge Eliza Thompson House was built upon Muscogee Creek ancestral land. As settlers on their indigenous homeland, we have a duty to recognize the Muscogee Creek nation as the original stewards of Savannah and beyond. The Muscogee Nation is one of the 5 Civilized Tribes and is the fourth largest tribe in the US. Before 1500 AD, the Muscogee covered the entire southeastern US.

Here in downtown Savannah, the Yamacraw were a small group of Creek Indians living on the Savannah River. When Oglethorpe landed here in 1733, he worked with the Yamacraw (Chief Tomochichi) to peacefully settle on the bluff where Bay Street is today.

It is our hope that this land acknowledgment will help empower First Nation voices and inspire others in the community to pursue a stronger, more inclusive, and equitable future for our country. We seek to educate ourselves while contributing to the Muscogee Creek peoples by raising awareness and learning how to be a better ally against continued colonization.
